Kansas-based death metal juggernauts Unmerciful return with their fourth full-length album, “Devouring Darkness”, set for release on May 23rd, 2025, via Willowtip Records. Known for their relentless brutality and technically devastating sound, Unmerciful delivers ten tracks of unrelenting speed, crushing riffs, and sheer sonic aggression, solidifying their reputation as one of the most punishing acts in modern death metal.
Formed in 2001, Unmerciful made their mark on the death metal scene with their 2006 debut “Unmercifully Beaten”, followed by extensive touring alongside legends such as Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Necrophagist and Cryptopsy. Their sophomore release, “Ravenous Impulse” (2016), saw the band evolve with the addition of John Longstreth (Origin, Hate Eternal, Gorguts, etc.) on drums, before moving forward with “Wrath Encompassed” (2020) under Willowtip Records , which was followed by tours alongside Narcotic Wasteland, Decrepit Birth, Pathology, and Stabbing. In 2022, the band expanded their reach with their first-ever South American shows in Bogotá, Colombia, and Ibarra, Ecuador.
With the release of “Devouring Darkness”, Unmerciful ushers in a new era of sonic annihilation. This album features the return of Jeremy Turner on guitar and the introduction of Josh Riley on vocals , reinforcing the band’s already formidable lineup. Fans can expect blistering blast beats, intricate drum patterns, vicious vocal attacks, and razor-sharp riffing, all executed with Unmerciful’s signature precision and brutality.
