Nevermore fans, rejoice! The band is officially making a comeback! After months of speculation, guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams have confirmed that the band is returning with a partially revealed lineup, featuring new members selected through an extensive audition process.
Loomis expressed his excitement, calling the return a long-awaited moment for both the band and its loyal fans. “The wait is over! We’ve assembled a lineup that honors our legacy while forging a new path forward,” he said, thanking everyone who participated in auditions. While the full roster remains under wraps, Loomis promised big things ahead. “We’re gearing up for the next chapter of Nevermore, and we promise it will be worth the wait.”
Nevermore’s return comes nearly five years after the passing of iconic frontman Warrel Dane, whose voice and presence were central to the band’s identity. Loomis, who spent the last decade with Arch Enemy, revealed in a recent interview that his decision to leave the band was largely driven by his desire to “be behind the driver’s wheel” of his own music again.
“Nevermore was a huge part of my life, and now it’s time to bring it back,” he said. The band is still finalizing a new vocalist and bassist, but Loomis is confident that the revival will be “bigger and better than it ever was.”
Not everyone is thrilled about Nevermore’s return. Jim Sheppard, the band’s co-founder and longtime bassist, initially called the reunion “completely disrespectful”, arguing that the name Nevermore should not continue without Dane. However, Sheppard later softened his stance, stating: “I’m disappointed no one reached out to me concerning the name Nevermore… With that said, I wish them the best.”
Despite the mixed reactions, Nevermore’s comeback is one of the most highly anticipated metal revivals of recent years. With Loomis and Williams at the helm, fans are eager to hear how the band’s new era will unfold.
Who will step into the late Warrel Dane’s legendary vocalist role? Will the revamped lineup live up to the band’s legacy? Fans will have to wait and see, but according to Loomis, the best is yet to come.
