In a recent interview with Danas, they made a very interesting statement that somewhat describes what can be expected on Saturday in Močvara:
“Punk is definitely a movement and a “statement” about culture which opposes the norms, but can still dilute and abuse it mainstream culture. Today, he is an opposition to toxic masculinity, homophobia and racism at all times.”
Born from friendship, Heavy Lungs came together in the spring of 2017 in Bristol and turned their focus to the loud, the dynamic, the wild.
“It’s not about what happened in the past or what you think might happen in the future. It’s about the ride, for God’s sake. Irving Feffer said it. We like to think he was right”.
Heavy Lungs deliver a raw, loud and uncompromising energy to their shows, inspired by the wild and liberating concerts typical of the 80s and 90s. From the very beginning, they have been growing brutally fast in the musical sky, sharing the stage with friends from bands such as the aforementioned Idles, The Oh Sees, Metz, John and many others.
The band is currently on extensive tour across the UK and Europe with their explosive, wildly entertaining and unique punk style. Following their 2023 debut album, “All Gas No Brakes”, which was critically acclaimed on Alcopop! Records, they have attracted the attention of Steve Lamacq and Iggy Pop. Heavy Lungs is the rock’n’roll sandwich you never knew you needed, but is now in your lunchbox every day.
Whether they cause tinnitus or you are accompanied by one of their infectiously irresistible melodies, a performance by Heavy Lungs is one to remember and one that, by the way, is not to be missed.
See you on February 22nd at Močvara, and the day before Hangtime is also organizing a concert at Belgrade’s Karmakoma.
