Scottish metal band Catalysis are back with their fifth EP “The Only Way Out Is Through”, out on April 18th, 2025. The release marks a new chapter for the award-winning group, showcasing a refreshed lineup and renewed creative energy.

Following the release of their album “Betrayer” in December 2023, the band underwent major lineup changes in 2024. Founding members Calum Rennie and Drew Cochrane quickly rebuilt the group with Jamie Paterson (guitar), Robi Islam (bass), and Andrew Downie (vocals). The new lineup made their debut with the single “Lazarus” in November 2024.

“This EP is the culmination of a lot of behind-the-scenes work. We’ve dug deeper into our influences than ever before to create something that feels true to Catalysis, but with a new spark”,

the band shared.

Written collaboratively, “The Only Way Out Is Through” captures the band’s signature mix of melody, groove and aggressive riffing across five tracks. The EP was co-produced by guitarist Drew Cochrane and Mark Tindal of Open Eyes Production, giving the band the chance to be fully involved in shaping a mix that reflects their live energy.

The release date coincides with the band’s performance at their hometown event Dundee Metal Fest, which will also serve as the official EP launch show.
