Italian cult progressive five-piece Athena XIX, led by Fabio Lione (Angra, ex-Rhapsody of Fire, a.o.), will release their fourth studio album “Everflow Part 1: Frames Of Humanity” on October 25th, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). The new record is the first part of a concept inspired by the sci-fi and dystopian visions of such cinematic masterpieces such as “Strange Days”, “The Matrix”, “Transcendence” and “Sunshine”. It tells a story which blends ecological consciousness and moral ethics, control of the masses and indiscriminate technological progress.
Today the band unveil also a new single “Frames Of Humanity”. With skillfully carved melodies and an intricately sophisticated yet modern feeling this song really has it all.
Fabio Lione recalls:
“This is one of the first songs we wrote for this record. Actually this is the finale of the first part of the concept. We start this album and history with it, like a flashback. Very deep, melancholic and gloomy somehow – this is the perfect introduction to the concept!”
“Everflow Part 1: Frames Of Humanity” is not meant to be a simple summary of a highly-articulated narrative, but represents music inspired by unstoppable creativity, a tenacious desire to experiment, and the ability to perfectly embody the Zeitgeist of our time.
“I think this record will surprise a lot of people,” states frontman and founding member Lione. “Even today “A New Religion?” is considered the best Italian prog metal album by many people, and “Everflow” marks a massive evolution of our sound. We worked hard on it, also to give each song a particular cut which is consistent with the articulated story of the concept.”
“Everflow Part 1: Frames Of Humanity” was produced, recorded and mixed by Gabriele Guidi, Fabio Lione and Simone Pellegrini. The stunning cover artwork was created by book and music cover artist Dusan Markovic.
