Chilean metal extremists Ater have revealed a haunting new video for their doom laden single “Through The Portal”, from the band’s new album, “Somber”, that’s out now from Torque Records.

Commenting on the song and video founding vocalist/bassist Fernando Bühring says:

“This is a very special video for me personally and also making it means I realized one of my dreams true. I once had a vision of making a video exactly like this one when visiting the mystic Araucanía region of my home country Chile many years ago. This place has a very special energy and the nature features are extremely unique. The Araucaria trees make you feel like you are in a different planet. We chose the base of the Lanín Volcano to shoot this video as this mountain is so epic. We got lucky with the only open sky day of the entire winter season and faced extreme cold weather of around -7 Celsius average for two days, wearing only thin fabrics. It took us to the very edge of what we can do physically and mentally.

It was also very challenging to bring the crew and equipment to such a remote location. The end result I’m extremely proud of and I hope the rest of you enjoys it as well!”

Released earlier this year, Ater’s 2nd full-length album, “Somber”, is a cataclysmic melding of black, death, progressive and thrashing groove for one of the year’s devastating heavy metal records, featuring stand out tracks like “Descending” and “Ignis Immortalis”.
