Blackened death metallers Aoidos have released “From the Surface Grate” the third single from their highly anticipated upcoming album Oizys which is set to be released on November 29th, 2024 via Nox Liberartio Records.
The band comments that the song “is inspired by the Warhammer 40,000 universe, focusing on the Dark Eldar and their torturous methods of extracting life force from “Monkeigh,” a derogatory term derived from “monkey” that they use to refer to humans. The lyrics narrate the story of a human prisoner held in a Dark Eldar dungeon, enduring unspeakable horrors until his death. In his final moments, he is greeted by a powerful, ethereal voice—the Emperor himself—urging the loyal servant to surrender to death and end his suffering: “In a parallel plane of reality, your mind shielded from all insanity. Say your goodbyes, your mind is gone. Let it go, my child.”
