Swedish masters of melancholic metal, Katatonia, are set to embark on an exhilarating EU and UK headline tour this fall, promoting their much-anticipated new album “Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State”, slated for release on June 6th via Napalm Records. The band’s 2025 lineup marks a new chapter in their storied career with the addition of two new guitarists, Nico Elgstrand and Sebastian Svalland. They will be joining vocalist Jonas Renkse, bassist Niklas Sandin and drummer Daniel Moilanen.

“Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State” promises to continue Katatonia’s exploration of the delicate balance between haunting darkness and fleeting hope, expanding upon the sonic foundations set by their 2023 release “Sky Void of Stars”. Fans can expect an atmospheric journey through layers of melancholy, where sorrow and beauty collide.

As summer fades into fall, the band will hit the road for a highly anticipated tour across 31 cities, joining forces with fellow Napalm Records label mates, the progressive metal titans Evergrey, and Italian alt-metal outfit Klogr. The tour will launch on November 11th in Tampere, Finland, at Tavara-asema, and will wind its way through key European cities, including Hamburg, Warsaw, Prague, and Milan, before wrapping up with a massive finale on December 20th in Stockholm, Sweden, at Fållan.

This tour will be Katatonia’s first opportunity to showcase the powerful new material live and to introduce their fresh lineup to audiences across Europe. The band’s blend of atmospheric doom, intricate songcraft, and emotionally charged performances is sure to leave a lasting impact on fans.

With their haunting melodies and immersive live shows, Katatonia are poised to deliver a truly unforgettable tour experience, offering fans both old and new a chance to witness the evolution of one of the most emotionally charged bands in metal today.
