A new song by the Croatian Split-based metal band Distorzija Uma, titled “Spasi me” (Save Me), has just been released.
The song was originally composed in 2022, but due to various circumstances, it has only now seen the light of day. The music and lyrics were written by Davor Delić, the band’s guitarist. The song remained unfinished for a long time as the band searched for the most fitting vocal line and performance.
The lyrics speak about the inner struggles that everyone faces and the demons that haunt us all. They reflect on the anxiety within us, the battle that takes place inside the walls of our minds. The song also touches on the need for support from loved ones who may not be aware of the hardships we sometimes endure. It conveys the silent cries for help that others cannot hear but that tear us apart from within.
The band’s lineup includes Nikola Aleksić on vocals and rhythm guitar, Davor Delić as the lead guitarist, Toni Šimundža on bass, and Vjeran Birimiša on drums. Notably, the drummer plays with only one hand.
The music video was filmed in Split and in the band’s own rehearsal space. Both the song and the video were produced independently, with Davor Delić as the producer.
The initial reactions from listeners have been excellent – both from fans of heavier music and from those who typically do not listen to this genre.
