Italian doom metal visionaries Messa have unveiled their latest single and accompanying music video, “The Dress”, a haunting new track from their upcoming full-length album “The Spin”. Slated for release on April 11th via Metal Blade Records, the album promises to further solidify Messa’s reputation as one of the most compelling forces in the genre.
Celebrating their tenth anniversary in 2024, Messa continues their ascent toward legendary status with “The Spin”, their fourth studio album. The record takes listeners on a breathtaking sonic journey, blending diverse moods, intricate twists and an array of musical styles. Staying true to their signature “scarlet doom” sound, “The Spin” is an evocative mix of ethereal melodies and crushing heaviness, resonating with both raw emotion and meticulous craftsmanship. Building upon the critically acclaimed foundations of “Belfry” (2016), “Feast For Water” (2018) and “Close” (2022), the band stands poised for even greater recognition on the international stage.
Regarding the new single, the band shares:
“This song comes from the darkest place and the unfathomable void of oneself. Pain circles around, emerging violently and then drowning again in the depths. This is reflected in the riff: the descent scale keeps coming back and circles repetitively. The dress, in this case, is the gateway to a personal crucifix built with self-hatred and mirroring despair.”
