Finally some symphonic power metal in the house people! New and marvellous Majestica is out. Their third full length under name “Power Train” is out on February 7th this year labeled by Nuclear Blast. Trust me in this time of revolution in Serbia that we all participate in which is followed by tons of trending music this is so refreshing for my ears. Some would say it’s generic, some would say it’s old fashioned but I say it’s just majestic as its name says it. So let’s get on board of this “Power Train” and choose a destination by ourselves.
Album consists of ten songs, ten energy bombs, which will certainly classify this bend in the top ten best power metal albums in this decade. “Power Train”, the opening song which got us a single with an official video doesn’t spare our souls even from the first to the last second. Scream of mister Tommy Johansson immediately got my attention and by the old by gold recipe of famous heavy metal bands the song is really fast, full of adrenalin to light the fire. Really good start for the album. To talk about every song here I would write two full papers of this review and our readers would really pass out. But next to the power train here are a few more highlight songs. “Battle Cry”! Oh my God! I think if I would have lived in the middle century this would be my motivational song to invade my enemies. I think I explained everything by this. But do you need anything more than a song then a shredding guitar riffs screaming vocals and energy that makes you take a sword and ahead to battle? All clear! There are some things you notice when you are so much into this music and that specific guitar riff that only Scandinavian musicians play with the same energy. Like Alexi Laicho of Children of Bodom in melodic death metal, here is mister Tommy ReinXeed in power symphonic metal. You will definitely know what I am talking about if you listen to the song “Story In The Night”. This melody which has a tone of anthem will definitely be the most popular song of this album. This masterpiece song is so full of some wild energy which suits the energy of the entire album but in my opinion it casts a shadow on all other songs on “Power Train”. Symphonic riffs we can hear in almost all songs give this album a special dimension and atmosphere. Without it the album will be a pure power metal but symphonic melodies give some classical and more powerful sound. I know I am not exaggerating when I say that mister Tommy Johansson aka Tommy ReinXeed is officially the best male metal vocalist after Bruce Dickinson in my opinion. This high scream fits so well into metal music and sounds almost shamanic. Not so many people can sing like this. If you listen to him on live performances you will get exactly the same voice with the same energy as on the audio recording from the first to the last minute of the concert. This band is already popular, to be clear but I think they deserve more attention from the metal world. Throne of power metal waits for them.
If you ask me how I would describe this album in three words: energy, power and motivation. And the heirs to the throne that I can’t wait to see live are majestic as the band’s name says. All hail to Majestica! The epic ride with the “Power Train” was pleasant!
