Chicago-based blackened thrash/death metal juggernauts Empty Throne have unleashed their highly anticipated debut full-length album, “Unholy”, available now through Swedish label Downfall Records. This powerhouse release combines the fury of black, thrash, and death metal into a ferocious and distinctive sonic assault that is sure to captivate fans of the genre.
Formed in 2020, Empty Throne has quickly risen to prominence in the extreme metal scene, drawing on the most potent elements of the genre to create a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly original. After featuring metal legends such as Mike Smith (ex-Suffocation) and Jack Owen (Cannibal Corpse, Deicide) in previous lineup changes, the band has solidified its roster with Mike Pardi (guitar, Draconis, ex-Possessed), Gabe Seeber (drums, The Kennedy Veil, Abbath), and Jason Ellsworth (bass, Angerot). The band’s unrelenting sound and brutal concept are driven by CR Petit (vocals, Angerot).
The debut album, “Unholy”, delivers six relentless tracks over 40 minutes of darkened death/thrash metal. With its crushing riffs, blistering drumming, and sinister vocals, Unholy stands out as one of the key releases of 2024.
Unholy is available now in CD, LP, and digital formats through Downfall Records.
