“Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.” Remember a couple of years back when you opened up your wallets so hard a couple hundred pounds flew out so you could afford the all-consuming “The Later Years 1987-2019” box set? Us poor bastards had to miss out on it because of all the eating, drinking and paying bills we had to do. Luckily, here’s a piece of the box set we can get. As for the you, the lucky ones, what can I say… Is your collection truly complete without this standalone release? No correct answer this time.

That one rainy night out in Knebworth. Pink Floyd at the height of their post-Waters, “coked up and ready to go” live extravaganza. Including extremely special guest stars, such as the ever-charming saxophone magician Candy Dulfer and the late, composer for the stars and a star himself, Michael Kamen.

Led by the three suited-up musketeers through the field of every musicians’ dream on their way to the pinnacle that is to become “Pulse”.

Through all the shadows of doubt surrounding the decades of Pink Floyd, “Live at Knebworth 1990” recording is another pillar on which these megalo-anything-but-maniacs build up their already over-the-top reputation. With little to no chance of ever again witnessing at least three quarters (fifths?) all on one stage, we are thankfully gifted with the archeological sites like this.

Across the years innumerable, the history told, retold and untold, the dark and shining sides of the Moon, Sun and stars above; addition, subtraction, multiplication and the division bells; myriads of possible doors and the walls surrounding them; the endless Waters, streams and rivers passing through; it is with the heavy heart of the Sun that I admit the story will likely never go on.

The book closes in slow motion and once it does, there is but one thing left to do. Gaze at its cover until it starts staring back at you, inviting to dive back in.

From the top ladies and gentlemen.

A musician by choice and a journalist by chance. However, much better at the latter one. Self taught reviewer for music and musical literature. Radio host when presented with an opportunity, video presenter when necessity calls for it. A future who-knows-what-else, since the curiosity and drive often surpass the possibilities and capability. But altogether a nice guy!
